I have always had an interest in computers and started out programming with a hobbyist programming language called Amos on the Amiga. I then developed a number of web sites for charities and local companies whilst at university studying Business Computing with Psychology (1st class honors).
After university I worked for a small consultancy developing a number of ASP/VB6 applications and websites before moving to .net on its release.
I have recently emigrated to Melbourne, Australia from the UK and work for the consultancy Readify. Prior to this move I worked as a senior developer for Carsales.com.au and before that lead developer for a UK company on a number of health care projects.
Perhaps the largest and most difficult project I have worked on was to create a hospital administration system for a hospital in Dubai. This system spans all aspects of the hospital from clinical and surgical processes to integration with the financial package Dynamics Great Plains.
I have been lucky to work around the world in the UK, Ireland, United Arab Emirates, America and now Australia. I have over 9 years development experience.
In the UK I founded and ran a .net user group (Devevening.co.uk) which grew quickly with 75 signed up to our mailing list. I have founded a similar group here in Melbourne: Deveve.net.
I wrote a book: Introducing visual studio 2010 with .net 4 for Apress. I have presented at a number of conferences and user groups such as Remix 2010, Australian ALM Conference, Vic.net user group, DDD Belfast, Epicenter 09, Nxtgen, WebDD 09, Vbug London and my own user group to audiences of 5 to 200+.
